There is nothing worse than staining your carpet. One of the worst stains is ink. Ink is extremely difficult to remove but is not impossible. Learn how to remove ballpoint pen ink from your carpet in this article.
The first step in removing the ink is to try to blot up as much of the ink as possible. Using a dry dye free paper towel blot the spot. Work from the outside in so that you do not spread the ink any further. Keep dabbing gently until no more of the ink will transfer to the paper towel. Now it is time to apply some isopropyl alcohol. Apply the alcohol to a clean paper towel and gently dab the spot. Once again remember to work from the outside in so that you do not spread the ink. Be careful not to apply too much alcohol and be careful not to let the alcohol penetrate the backing of the carpet as it could harm the backing. Keep gently dabbing the spot until no more ink transfers to the paper towel. If the spot is gone you should stack a few paper towels on the spot and place a clean weight on it so that any remaining residue will wick out of the carpet.
If this fails to remove the spot you should probably call in a professional carpet cleaner. They will have the knowledge and tools to remove difficult stains. If you try to hard you can easily make a small ink stain a large one so be very careful. Good luck.

As you probably already know carpet can be difficult to own. When it gets soiled it is not always as easy to clean as just wiping it with a cloth. Some stains and spots require different spotting techniques. one of those spots is chewing gum.
Chewing gum can wind up in your carpet many different ways. Usually you or your children step on it outside and then track it into the home where it gets stuck and embedded in the carpet fibers. The best way to deal with chewing gum is to of course never get it on your carpe in the first place. As they say an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. make your kids take off their shoes before walking on the carpet after playing and use door mats ate every entrance.
If you do get gum in your carpet you will find that it is not that difficult to remove if you use the right process. First freeze the gum with ice cubes. Once it is completely frozen you should strike it with a hard object like a small hammer or the butt of a knife. Pick up the pieces and you are done. You might need to follow up with a general spotter to remove any remaining sticky residue. If you have no luck with this method you might want to try another method. You can use a good citrus spotter to remove the gum. Spray the spot with the citrus spotter and work it into the fibers. The citrus spotter will loosen the gum and you can remove it.
Pretty easy isn’t it. You will find that most spots in carpet are easy to remove. You just have to use the right method.

If you have kids you probably know how difficult it can be to live with them and carpeting. They probably seem intent on destroying it. This article will give you some tips on how to live with kids and carpet.
First you should be prepared at all times for accidents. Keep some white terry cloth towels and a good bottle of carpet spot remover handy. The longer a stain sits, the harder it will be to remove so be ready to go into action at any time. If a spill happens, first blot up as much of the stain as possible. After you have blotted up as much as you can you can go to the spotter.
Next you should try to set up a designated eating and drinking area. Try to make your kids eat in one place like the kitchen. You might think it is okay to let your kids run around with a “spill proof” sippy cup but they can and do drip. They might not spill all at once but a drip here and a drip there adds up. So try to keep your kids food and drink in the kitchen.
My last tip is to get yourself a cheap rug for your child’s play area. They will spill. Whether it be play dough or finger paint, it is better that it gets on an inexpensive and disposable rug instead of your expensive wall to wall carpeting.
Kids and carpets may not go together very well but by taking a few precautions you can greatly improve your odds of keeping a clean carpet. Good luck.
